Quail Eggs for Kyla

Kyla loves to eat quail eggs. She can up to 8 quail eggs if you will let her eat them. She requested me today to cook some quail egg in the ref. Well, it’s good for the health as my mom says. I’m glad she likes the taste of it. Every time I am in the grocery I do buy a 1 tray of it because she will looked for it on the ref. I’m happy that she start eating such kind of egg.

..no to sweets!

jellyace

Every time I go to groceries I always pick Jellyace for Kyla because I know she will look for that. I often buy it because it’s so sweet that may affect her throat and possibly she will have a neither cough nor tonsillitis. I don’t want her to get such diseases. If she has high fever she will seizure or convulsion that makes me panic all the time and sometimes she will rush in the hospital. I don’t want it to happen again.

I miss TAGAYTAY..

I miss Tagaytay because it is a place where you can unwind and relax from stressful job and life you have right now. How I wish we can have our vacation next summer together with my hubby because when we are there he was here in Davao. I love their place for it has full of beautiful views to see. I miss the sinabawang baka we ate in the supermarket because it’s mouth watering.

Congrats Sis!

Last Friday our sis in Christ gave birth to a pretty baby girl named Naomi Grace. They were absent last Sunday because they are still in the hospital. We are thanking to God for giving Sis Judith a safe delivery. We are praying for her recovery. I’m so excited to see her baby. I’m giving this comment to her.

Kyla is losing weight..

My brother Jeff noticed that my daughter Kyla was losing weight since we transferred here in my hubby’s house. I noticed it when I took a bath of her. It is because her sleeping time changed and she sleeps so late at night and wakes up late too. But I feed her on time. I’m worried now.

Just for FUN!!!

After the photo session, hubby took some photos of my daughter. Kyla made a different post. She feels like she is “artista”. LOL! She wants to join “Going Bulilit” which is aired on TV every Sunday night. She loves to watch it. Well, let’s see but hubby disagree..hehe. He is a strict father.

A Small Photo Session

Last Friday hubby wants to get a photo shots outside. Kyla wants to join with him. Hubby made an idea to teach my daughter how to take a photo using the DLSR camera of my bro in law.

Kyla's Sleeping Time..

Kyla change her sleeping time. She sleeps in the afternoon at 3 or 4pm then she will sleep late in the evening at 10 or 11pm. She will wake up so late too at 9 or 10am. I want to change it because during Sunday we are always late because she wakes up 8 in the morning and our morning service will start at 9am. I hope she will sleep this Saturday evening so that she can attend her Sunday school classes. I’ll talk to her later and I hope she will listen to me.

Mealtime suggestions for parents

Some things to keep in mind and suggestions include:

Read more here...

“This is a good advice to all moms out there. We must be a role model to them like eating healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables. When we do that our child will eat healthy foods too. I am introducing new foods every week to my daughter Kyla though she is a picky eater. She eats only what she wants. But now I will try my best that she will eat all the foods that I prepare in the table”

Good Morning!!!

It’s Friday in the morning. I don’t know what to cook for my family. I cannot cook chicken because I have allergies but I am not allergic to chicken. I better look some recipe in the internet so that I can start cooking now. Well, they wake up so late and so I have enough time to google in the net. It’s our responsibility as a wife to serve the best food for our family so that they will not order food on some fast food store. Bye for now guys because I need to look for my menu today before they wake up and ask for food especially my daughter.

Toddlers Eating

It takes time to develop the fine motor skills required to eat neatly with a knife and fork. Don’t assume that your child is deliberately being messy when they eat, since guiding food to the mouth without any spills is tricky for a toddler. Suggestions include:

** I like this article because my daughter Kyla is now in the process of eating by herself. When she use spoon, she carefully put it in her mouth. She follows what I did to her because I don’t want a mess though it’s natural for toddlers. Kyla see to it that there’s no food on the floor. I learn a lot from this article. **

I need to save now..

Christmas Day is coming! As a godmother I have to give gifts to my godchild. I have 3 godchildren. I need to save bucks starting now so that I will not fret when Christmas Day comes. I miss Ella my mom’s neighbor last year but they transfer to downtown area where his father works as a food staff in a restaurant. I have no gifts for her last August, her birthday due to I forgot to buy a birthday gift for her. I’ll give it this Christmas Day because I can’t visit her in their house. It’s too far away from us. To all godmother there, be like me, save bucks now for your godchild. LOL!

Kyla likes to STUDY!

Hubby bought a study table and chair last Tuesday for Kyla. He bought it for Kyla because his daughter is studying her 2 books. It was Math and English given by her Mama Lolit, her grandma in Manila. She is the mother of my hubby. I start teaching her using that book. Now, she is tracing the letters of the alphabet. She colors the object properly. We are so proud of her because now she has interest in studying her 2 books. We told her that she will be studying next year and she is so excited. I hope that she will excel academically. Let’s see!

Family Allergies

If a family member suffers from food-related allergies, it's important that you talk to your doctor or health visitor before introducing any of the foods below into your baby's diet:

Allergies to nuts, nut products and some seeds may only affect one per cent of the population, but for those who are at high risk (people with allergies such as hay fever, asthma and eczema in the family) it's best to steer clear of them altogether.

“Hubby is allergy with dried fish, chicken and shrimps. I’m glad Kyla does not inherit it. She can eat all the foods not like her father. I have no allergies to food. Kyla inherit to me. I think everything she inherit from me especially her face. She is pretty like me. LOL!”

The Labandera Girl

My daughter is so sweet and very caring to me. She saw our dirty clothes in the basket and she said that she will help me laundry our clothes. Just like what she did lat week in my mom’s house. She is learning to wash her clothes. Hubby took a picture of it. I hope that when she grows up and become a lady she will help me in doing the household chores. I will train her because she is a girl and so if she gets married she will be the one to do all the household chores.

Dont's let her hear..

kyla01Kyla is a keen observer child because when sometimes I talk to her Papa with a loud voice. She will tell me “Ano gawa ninyo? Nag-aaway ba kayo Mama at Papa?”. Then I will reply “Hindi anak, nag-uusap lang kami ni Papa”. She is realy a smart kid. Kyla always ask question about everything she saw on TV and around her. Sometimes it’s hard to explain but we need to for them to stop asking. Whew! We need to be teachers also. When we are quarreling we don’t let her hear because it’s not good. She is a child and so she is curious of everything she saw and hear. It’s not easy to be a parent. Right?

Stubborn Kyla

Grrr! I scolded my daughter Kyla yesterday because she wakes up so late. We have to go to our church and be there on time so that she can attend her Sunday school classes. Gosh! She wakes up at 8 in the morning then we must be on our church at 9:20 in the morning. I will take a bath of her and assist her in eating her breakfast. She sleeps so late at night because she plays a lot with her papa and our guest. Kyla sleep at 11 in the evening. She is so tired the next morning. Kyla needs to attend her Sunday school classes because they will be practicing their presentation this coming December, our Church Anniversary. She is absent in her Sunday school class yesterday. Next Saturday I will let her sleep early so that we will not be late.

NO to Junk Foods!!!

I do not allow my daughter Kyla in eating too much junk food because it’s bad for our health. It can cause UTI (Urinary Tract Infection) because it has ingredients which are not good for our health. When I go to the grocery I pick biscuits, cookies and chocolate drink for her. As a mom we should take care of our child to prevent her from any sickness. It’s not easy to stay in the hospital. It’s pricey and I pity on my daughter when the doctor will inject her for her dextrose. It’s painful to see when your child is crying. I love my child that is why I am strict to her in everything she eat and drink.

Asthma Attacks!

I’m so tired yesterday because my mom and I clean our entire house. Gosh! It’s so dusty! I took a bath for about 4 in the afternoon. Then, at night my asthma attacks me. I can’t sleep because I hear my breathing that sounds awful. I have no medicine in the ref and so I look for my daughter’s medicine because she is asthmatic. I’m glad I found it and I take it then after a few hours I sleep soundly.

I’m sorry to my daughter Kyla because I shouted her last night due to I am irritated with my asthma. She wants to go out of our room to see who is coming; I did not allow her because it’s late already and so she must sleep. She cried and went to hubby. I’m temper when I am not feeling well. I can’t control myself. I’m so sorry Kyla.

Understanding Play and Learning

Your toddler is very active between the ages 1 and 3.

She will be using her new physical and verbal skills to explore everything around her.

As he grows, your toddler will spend less time exploring and more time playing. And play is your child's "work" as he practices and masters new mental, physical, and social skills.

To help your child with her development, plan ways to explore new and interesting things at home and in your neighborhood.

Sources: www.urbanext.uiuc.edu/toddlers/

“My daughter is three years old and so she ask everything she saw. Sometimes I get irritated because I’m tired but hubby told me to have long patience with her. She is exploring that is why she wants to know everything in this world. It’s good that she talks a lot than being quite because you will never know her personality. Many of my friends do like my daughter because she is talkative. If you will ask her of anything she will definitely answer directly to the point.”

Saving is Good!

barbieKyla is so excited to get the money in her “Barbie bank”. It is heavy that has a lot of 5 and ten pesos coins plus it has paper bills too. Some of it was given by the member of our church who had fun watching her modeling in front of many people. It’s soon to be full and I will deposit to her bank account because it is for her schooling next year. I’m happy that she knows how to save at her age. I hope she will adapt that practice until she grows up.

A stressful yet happy day.

I am so stressed because I woke up early this morning and head straight to downtown Davao with my hubby to buy a new fridge. After we go to the appliance store, we go immediately to the grocery store to shop for things will be needing to fill our new fridge. Hehehe. We spent more than an hour of walk and pick on the grocery store. But all of this paid of when we got home and saw my little angel Kyla smile at me and so happy.

To all Parents:

Overloaded School Backpacks Often Cause Aches and Pains
To prevent injury, Boys Town Orthopeadics and the AAOS recommends:
  • Using a backpack with wide, padded straps and a padded back.
  • Using a hip strap when backpacks are overloaded.
  • Firmly tightening both straps in order to hold the backpack 2 inches above the waist.
  • Placing heavier items close to your back.
  • Use proper lifting techniques: bend at the knees and use the legs to lift the backpack, placing one shoulder strap on at a time.
  • Making frequent stops at your locker to unload books.
  • Using a backpack with wheels.
Source: Parenting

* While browsing on the net I saw this article at Parenting.org. This is a fact! Schools require the students to bring their books everyday and will put in their school bags. It's very heavy. Poor students carrying heavy loads everyday but we parents must buy a bag with a wheels so that they will not carry it in their back to prevent injuries.*

..off TODAY!

My daughter wants to go with me today because I am going to the bank now to check if my money is there. It’s been a long time that we never go to malls, strolling and window shopping there. And so my mom, Kyla and I will go to the bank today and after that we will stroll on malls and eat at fast food or maybe shop. Gosh! I will be spending a lot today. It’s okay as long as my daughter is happy because she stays at home for almost two weeks. I know she is bored like me. LOL! And so I’ll be out of my desk today and will be back later tonight.

..stressful WEEK!

Kyla was so happy this afternoon because I bought her biscuits, chocolates, chocolate drink and a chocolate cake from Merco. I’m so tired waiting in the bank to cash the check from our client. They are offline and so only one teller is moving and the others are not. But when I arrived at home, I saw Kyla calling my name and she is so happy. She makes me smile today though this day is a bad day for me. I will not elaborate it here for now because it is very shameful. It’s really bad! I’m stress this week because it’s the examination week of my tutees. I need to do questionnaires or reviewers for them. I am finding solutions on family matters. I’m sorry guys if my post is not good because I am not in the mood. Only my daughter brightens my day, she puts a smile on my face. Please Lord help me I can’t do this all without you.

OLPC for Kyla

Have you heard about the OLPC or One Laptop Per Child mission. Their mission is to provide each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power laptop but is full of useful information and has a software designed for collaborative joyful learning experience. How I wish my daughter kyla could have one. :)

Kyla the "Labandera"

Look who's that little girl in white?

laba01

It’s my daughter Kyla who is washing her clothes. She is so serious! LOL!

laba02

She said that she will help her granny in washing our clothes. She said to her Papa to take some photos of her while doing it. (murag korek!hehe..)

It’s good to teach early household chores to our children so that when they grow up they will help us. Just like my daughter Kyla, she helps me clean our house, wash our clothes and sweep the floor even if she cannot do it well. She has the desire to learn the household chores in her age. Well, I hope she maintain that good attitude until she grows up.

Kyla can Sing!

We went to church yesterday and I’m glad we are not late. Kyla and I went to her Sunday school classes with Maa’m Vivian. They start practicing their presentation this coming December. It’s our church anniversary and they are included in the program. I’m proud of my daughter because she strives to sing their song for that incoming presentation even if she can’t read. I hope she can memorize it slowly by slowly.

Finding the Right Baby Soap

Keeping your baby's skin clean is one of the most important things you can do to help your baby stay healthy, and baby soap plays a very important role in keeping your baby's skin clean. So we need to make sure that we are using:

  • baby soap that is gentle
  • baby soap that is hypoallergenic
  • baby soap that is non-toxic
  • baby soap that sls free

You need to make sure that your baby soap is gentle because otherwise it could be irritating your baby's skin during or after bath time, and this would actually be opposite to what bath time is supposed to do. The baby soap that you use should be hypoallergenic since you do not know what your baby may be allergic to, and they are more susceptible at this very young age. Baby soap also needs be non-toxic since young babies like to put their hands in their mouth, and you want to know that if your baby swallows some of the baby soap, they will be safe. Finally, your baby soap should be Sodium Laurel Sulfate (SLS) free. SLS is a harsh chemical that is used as the chief foaming agent in soaps, including some baby soaps. The Journal of the American College of Toxicology said, "SLS can damage the immune system, causing separation of skin layers and inflamation of skin." Is this something you would like to expose your baby's skin to by using harsh baby soap?

Read more here..

“I used lactacyd for my daughter when she is infant and up to 1 year old. I noticed that when she has red spots in her skin due to mosquito bite, it will disappear because of lactacyd.  Then, after 1 year, I used Johnson’s Baby Milk wash for her. Her skin is so soft and it helps maintain her white complexion. I am still using it to her until now because it is gentle, hypoallergenic and also non-toxic”

“As a mom and wife we are advised to buy fresh fruits and vegetables in the supermarket. It is because it is good for our health and we must give it to our family. My daughter only eats fruits like apple, banana and mango. Her favorite fruit is banana.  She eats vegetables like carrots, sayote and squash. Her favorite vegetable is carrot. But I’m introducing all fruits and veggies to her so that she will not be a picky eater.”

"Varga!"

It’s Saturday! My daughter Kyla is watching Varga tonight. She likes watching it. I am here in my mom’s room and Kyla is in our living room watching TV alone. My poor daughter keeps on calling me to join with her. I can’t because I am doing my due opps now. But later I’ll be there for I am almost done. As a mom, we must have bonding time with our child. I’m guilty for sometimes I have no time with her but I make sure that if I have free time, I’m with her.

Our Night!

As I have said earlier we went to Water World last night. I took some photos and see it here.

0003I took this photo because it’s unique for it has full of broken glasses.

0002
It’s Jboy in their back and Darms, my friend carry my daughter Kyla. Kyla had fun sliding together with Darms. They slide thrice and she wants more but I disagree because I am shy with Darms. I can’t do it because I’m afraid that we will be drowned. We still had fun in our night swimming though it is raining. Gosh! Its so cold!

Tiring Outing

Kyla is so tired last night. When we are on our way home, she is sleepy. She wants to sleep in a taxi cab but we told her not to sleep because in awhile we can reach our home. When we arrive at home, she immediately went to our bedroom and lay down to bed. After a few minutes, she was sleeping. I want to sleep but I need to check my email to see if I have a new message. I received a message that I need to do my pending jobs for it is due. I have no choice but to do it then I sleep late at 2 in the morning. Gosh! I keep on sneezing! I have colds..so bad!

Diarrheal Illnesses

If swimmers are ill with diarrhea, the germs that they carry can contaminate the water if they have an "accident" in the pool. On average people have about 0.14 grams of feces on their bottoms which, when rinsed off, can contaminate recreational water. When people are ill with diarrhea, their stool can contain millions of germs. Therefore, swimming when ill with diarrhea can easily contaminate large pools or waterparks.

In addition, lakes, rivers, and the ocean can be contaminated by sewage spills, animal waste and water runoff following rainfall. Some common germs can also live for long periods of time in salt water.

So, if someone swallows water that has been contaminated with feces, he/she may become sick. Many of these diarrhea-causing germs do not have to be swallowed in large amounts to cause illness.

Sources: KeepKidsHealthy.com

“Is this true? Oh no! We must take care of our child when we are swimming in the pool so that they cannot get such diseases. It’s true that there are so many germs in the swimming pool and so we must prevent our child drinking water in the pool. I remember my daughter drinks water in a pool, she vomit it. From that time she is afraid swimming in the pool. Good thing she vomits all the water she drinks from the pool.”

..bad weather!

As I have said a while ago on my post that we will have a night swimming in Water World. We depart from here at around 7 in the evening and went home at 10:30 in the evening because it’s raining. It’s so cold! So sad that the weather does not give us a chance to enjoy more swimming in the pool. But on the other hand my daughter Kyla had a chance to experience to slide together with my friend Darms. She likes it so much that at first I thought she will be afraid. They slide thrice. Her pink lips turn to pale lips, maybe because she feels cold due to heavy rains with strong wind. We still enjoy tonight though the weather is not good. We have so many foods to share and eat.

What is a Toddler?

We think it is important to define what a Toddler is and what ages are reflected in this website:  The American Heritage Dictionary defines a Toddler as:

  • One who toddles, especially a young child learning to walk.
  • A size of clothing for children between the ages of about one and three years.

We like to define a toddler as:

  • A child who is between the age of 12 months and 48 months old (1 year and 4 years old)
  • One who loves to eat <xyz> food one day and then dislikes that very same <xyz> food the next day
  • One who requires a lot of clean laundry, tidying-up after, and lots of attention, and constant amusement and stimulation
  • One who is methodical and focused in his or her attempts at launching a spoonful of mashed potatoes as easily as a robotic arm assembles a car!
  • One who's innocence and wonder inspires us to do better
  • One who possesses an abundance of love.
  • One who is unconditional in the giving, and delightful in the receiving of that love, along with showering hugs, kisses and smiles to those around him or her;
  • a true joy and a true blessing to treasure

“My daughter is three years and 6 months old. Therefore, she is a toddler. Kyla wants our attention always. Now, we have a pet in the house and so she gets jealous on our pet. She sometimes kicks it. She wants to know everything for she keeps on asking what she saw. Kyla can appreciate the things we gave to her. She is kind because she used to greet the elders. In short my daughter is talkative and smart.”

Night Swimming Later

wear01
We will be going to have a night swimming today at Water World together with my mom’s neighbor. I and our neighbor Darms planned it last week. Now, it will happen. Gee! We are all excited to slide in their sliding area that will directly push you down to their swimming pool. My daughter Kyla is so excited to wear her swimsuit. She will bring her life vest and her other toys. I and my mom are preparing right now. And so I’ll be back later tonight.

Kyla's Hair

I remember when I was a kid, my mom always make a style on my hair. She will put colored hair clips on my hair. She will sometimes braid or pony tail it. Just like what she did yesterday to my daughter.

Look at this photo.

Are you doing this to your child? Well, sometimes I do it for I am busy with my offline and online work. Kyla has a long hair and she doesn’t want to cut it. She always get compliment to other people that her hair is so nice because it has natural curl like Marimar. LOL!

"Ice Age 2 - The Meltdown"

“My bro borrowed a DVD entitled Ice Age 2 the Meltdown. Kyla had fun watching it but she only watch the middle of the movie. I think I already watch this cartoon movie already at home with my hubby. But I did not finish the movie because it’s already late in the evening. I had fun watching this movie at first but I can’t stay longer watching it. I am not a movie lover like my daughter. This is good movie huh..”

"Litai" - Kyla's New Toy

doll01 doll02
My mother in law who is now in Manila sends a doll that can sing and can play on the swing. Kyla is so excited to play with it. She saw her new toy the next morning because we slept on my mother’s house last Monday. Kyla wakes up early that day and she saw the toy near our bed. She hurriedly gets it and show to her granny. She was so happy and keeps on playing it. Then, she show it to her friends in the afternoon.

Granny's Girl

My daughter Kyla wakes up this morning at 6 in the morning. When she wants to get up she wakes me up asking me to open the door and she will look for her granny. Then she will call her granny so loud and will say “Good Morning Granny” with a sweet smile. Our neighbor will praise her kindness because at her age she knows how to greet the elders. Well, she is also granny’s girl for she is one and only grand daughter though sometimes they have conflict because my daughter is hard headed like me. LOL! But they are best buddy at home.

Why do experts recommend waiting to introduce cow's milk until a baby is 12 months old?

There are several reasons to delay the introduction of cow's milk until your baby reaches his first birthday. Most important, a baby's digestive system can't digest cow's milk proteins. Cow's milk also has too much sodium, potassium, and chloride, which can tax your baby's kidneys.

Even if his system could handle it, cow's milk doesn't have all the vitamins and minerals (especially vitamin E, zinc, and iron) that he needs for growth and development in his first year. Giving a baby cow's milk could even cause iron deficiency and internal bleeding. And it can increase his risk of an allergic reaction.

Once your baby's digestive system is ready to digest it, though, milk becomes a powerful ally. A great source of calcium, phosphorus, vitamin A, and magnesium, milk will build your toddler's bones and teeth and help his body regulate his blood coagulation and muscle control. Almost all milk is fortified with vitamin D, which helps the body absorb the calcium it needs.

Milk also provides protein for growth, as well as carbohydrates, which will give your child the energy he needs to toddle all day! And if your child gets enough calcium from the get-go, there's evidence that he'll have a lower risk of high blood pressure, stroke, colon cancer, and hip fractures later in life.

“This is a helpful and informative article. Some pediatrician recommended to all moms that it is best to breastfeed our babies for her not to be easily sick. I breastfeed my daughter and at the same time she drinks cow’s milk. But according to some experts we must introduce cow’s milk if he or she reaches his or her first birthday. Cow’s milk has too much chloride, potassium and sodium that can tax our baby’s kidney. I hope all moms out there can learn a lesson from this article and will apply it in their babaies.”

My Family

it

This is my family. From left is my brother, my mom, I and my daughter Kyla. Sometimes we sleep in my mom’s house because my PC was there. It is my working place because hubby is in our house. They loved my daughter so much. My mom took good care of my daughter when I am working online and offline. My daughter calls her “granny” as she wanted to be called by her grand child. I am happy that I can still with them even if I have my own family. We still keep in touch for our house is only a street away from my mom’s house.

How To Get Rid of Head Lice

Every parent should know the signs of head lice. It can be a nit-picky process and a down right nuisance to rid a child of head lice, but there a few tricks that will help eliminate lice from your child's hair and home.

  1. Know the signs. If your child is scratching his or her head a lot or you notice red bites on the back of his neck, check his head for lice. Lice are small bugs that are usually more annoying than dangerous. You might also notice nits. Nits look very similar to dandruff. However, dandruff can be easily removed or flicked off the hair. Nits, unlike dandruff, remain firmly attached to the hair. Lice usually appear behind the ears or around the back of the neck, but check the entire head.
  2. Use shampoos with caution. There are many over-the-counter shampoos that can be found in drug and grocery stores. If you choose to use one of the over-the-counter shampoos, it is important that you follow the directions to the letter. Read the instructions carefully and review the side effects. Consult a doctor if you have any questions or concerns. Over-the-counter shampoos, however, are only the first step to removing head lice.
  3. Remove the nits. Nits are the eggs that lice lay. Lighting can make all the difference in the world. A crucial step to removing head lice is eliminating the nits, and nits as well as lice can be very hard to see sometimes. Make sure you have good, bright lighting and possibly a magnifying glass to help you see the nits. Part the child's hair in small sections. Use a lice comb and comb each nit off individually. This takes time, and lots of it. Check the base of your child's head for any live or small lice as well. If you only spent fifteen minutes doing this, check your child's hair again.
  4. Comb. Comb. Comb. Continue combing through your child's hair every day and remove any more nits. Removing nits is essential to avoid reinfestation. Check your child's hair thoroughly for at least two weeks.
  5. Avoid reinfestation. Wash all the sheets in hot water. Vacuum all the floors. Disinfect hairbrushes, buy a bunch of cheap combs in the meantime, or just buy new brushes. Do it all over again the next day until you are sure there are no more lice. If any toys, pillows, or hats have the potential to come into contact with the lice or person infected, box the stuff up for a couple of weeks.
  6. Teach your child. Teach your child not to share hats, pillows, or hairbrushes with other children at school. If your child is attending day care or school, notify the school nurse or person in charge to help avoid spreading the lice any further. Head lice can be very contagious.

Removing head lice can be a very time-consuming process. Be patient. Be thorough. Eventually, it will come to an end.

“My child is only 3 years old and that one of her friends has head lice. Kyla has a long hair and she keeps on scratching her head. Mom doubted that she has lice on her head. My mom is right for she caught some lice on her head. From that time I told my daughter not to play with them everyday because their head lice transfer to her. Kyla has a long hair. Grrr! I don’t want her to experience having head lice.”

"Sleeping Child"

kylagisingHow long your child does sleeps at noon? Well, if you ask me, Kyla can sleep up to 2 to 3 hours in the afternoon. Maybe that makes her big and heavy. She is growing very well. My mom told me that Kyla inherit her sleeping habit to her because when she is a child she loves to sleep. Some children at her age never sleep in the afternoon. I’m glad that Kyla is different from them and that makes her grow fast.

..sO worried and afraid..

I admit that sometimes I am temper because I don’t want my daughter Kyla to be hurt. We have a puppy in our house and it keeps on biting slippers and everything he sees. Kyla will sometimes kick the puppy and the puppy will play with her. The puppy will bite her feet and that what if he will bite it seriously. I know it has rabies and I’m afraid that Kyla will have it. Oh no! I hope and pray that it will not happen. That is why I am so strict to her for her good health sake. I hope she understands me. Sometimes I’ll bring her to my mom’s house to keep her safe from that puppy.

Child Eye Care

The following are some tips for your child eye care :

  • Don't read in a dim area. Ensure that the reading area is appropriately lighted
  • Preferably use a flicker-free reading lamp for reading
  • Supervise children when they are handling potentially dangerous glass or pointed items such as pens, pencils and scissors
  • Ensure children do not play with sharp objects which could accidentally hit the eye
  • Don't allow children to run with long objects such as pens or pencils which might poke their eyes should they tripped
  • In a moving vehicle, keep away long and sharp objects as it may accidentally hit or poke the eye when the driver applies the brakes
  • Parents supervision is needed when children plays with projectile "toys" such as pellet guns, darts, sling-shots or bows and arrows
  • Always wear safety glasses or clear eye protectors while playing sports
  • Do not let your child play with fireworks. Keep away from those who are using them
  • Keep all sprays and chemicals out of reach of small children
  • Send your child for routine eye examinations
  • and last but not least, teach your child to eat spinach and carrots!

“It is best to teach our children on how to take care of our eyes. We should take care of their sight to prevent from wearing them eyeglasses in an early age. Parents should be aware of giving them and playing with sharp objects. They are only child and so they need us in terms of taking care of the parts of our body. I hope parents will apply these tips on child eye care to their children.”

Bathing your Toddler

Some toddlers become afraid of the bath. If this happens, take your toddler’s fears seriously, as they are very real to her. To help overcome a fear of the bath you can try:

  • taking a bath with your toddler
  • letting her sit in the bath without water in it
  • getting her to leave the bathroom before you take the plug out, as some toddlers are afraid of getting sucked down the plug hole
  • having a shower with her
  • letting her sit in the baby bath in the big tub (if she still fits).

“When my daughter was 1 year old, I put warm water on her bath tub. She is not used of taking a bath with cold water because I noticed that she will have colds after that. But now she is 3 years old. I let her take a bath with cold water fresh from the faucet and she likes it so much. But she never want to have a shower bath because she is afraid and that she is not used to it.”``

Safety Tips: Tips for Preventing Choking

If you are the parent or care giver of an infant or child under 4 years old, follow these tips from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to reduce the chances of choking.

At Mealtime

* Insist that your children eat at the table, or at least sitting down. Watch young children while they eat. Encourage them to eat slowly and chew their food well.

* Cut up foods that are firm and round and can get stuck in your child's airway, such as

  • hotdogs -always cut hotdogs length-wise and then into small pieces
  • grapes-cut them into quarters
  • raw vegetables-cut them into small strips or pieces that are not round

* Other foods that can pose a choking hazard include:

  • hard or sticky candy, like whole peppermints or caramels
  • nuts and seeds (don't give peanuts to children under age 7)
  • popcorn
  • spoonfuls of peanut butter

“As a mom, it is our obligation that we must take care of our child. I have 3 years old daughter and so she is “makulit” and that she keeps on moving. She is curious of everything she saw and will try it though it is dangerous for her. When eating I make sure that she sits beside me and I spoon fed her so that she can eat well. I will cut her food into small pieces so that she will not be choked. Moms should watch their child when eating to prevent from choking.”
