Desktop Model

I'm having trouble with my PC. It keeps on restarting. I need to reformat it so that I can use my PC. I have pending jobs to finish. I'm so thankful with my hubby because he is expert in this field. I'm proud of him. I don't need technician anymore to fix the problem. I think it has virus. My hubby uses our photo (I and Kyla) display in my desktop.

Potty Power Potty Training Movie

If your toddler likes to watch movies, a potty training video may be just the reinforcement he or she needs to use the potty. Potty Power has fun songs, inspirational themes and funny actors to get your toddler interested in toilet training. The video also teaches toddlers the steps to training themselves to use the potty, which is a plus for independent toddlers.

www.about.com

* I bought a Potty Chair for my baby when she is 1 year old. I want her to be trained earlier so that she will not use diapers at night. At first it is hard but now she will urinate and "popo" in her potty. I have no problem with her now. She is very responsible enough in everything she has to do. **

Why do children Sleep?

mickylaMy child sleeps at the jeepney when we are on the way to SM. She sleeps also in the taxi when we are on our way home. Why do children sleep when they travel?

Obviously, we also sleep sometimes when we are in the bus or in the car when we travel in distance places. I remember when I was child I do sleep in the jeepney too..LOL!!! may pinagmanahan pala si Kyla.

I'm so tired holding her head because she sleeps in the jeepney but when she saw the shopping mall. She hurriedly opens her eyes wide. She is amazing!

Birthday Celebrations

The Following are some tips for a terrific toddler party:

Holding a small, morning or afternoon celebration - and plan to keep the running time short.

Keep numbers small. You may like to invite your child's friends from playgroup, nursery, or preschool, as well as family. Five to seven children should be more than enough. This will also depend on how much space you have and what you can afford.

Think about a theme for the party - this may be your child's favourite colour or much-loved character from a TV show or film. You can reflect the theme in invitations, decorations, food and party games.

Make a tape of your child's favorite songs to play.

Plan some activities for the children - visit the CBeebies website for more party game ideas.

Enlist other parents to help you run games.

Keep food simple - finger food is best.

Your child may have ideas about what sort of birthday cake they would like, but don't get too stressed about providing the 'perfect cake'.

Save the food and cake until the end of the party, and you won't need to give out party bags!

* I am so glad I found this helping article at Baby.co.uk because it helps me have an idea on how to prepare a birthday celebrations to my child. I want her to experience that because we celebrate her birthday in a beach resort always. She has no visitors at all. I want her to have a party this coming March but I had a hard time finding a place because I want it in a restaurant so that I will not be tired of minding the food if it is enough for the visitors.*

Brushing TEETH

Your child's teeth will include 20 primary teeth - ten at the top and ten at the bottom. Even if your baby has only one or two teeth, they need to be looked after properly. Make sure you brush your baby's teeth as soon as they appear, and try to get into a routine of brushing them twice a day, in the morning and before bedtime.

You should use a smear of fluoride toothpaste on a small toothbrush for your baby. Baby toothpaste may have a nicer taste, but doesn't offer as much fluoride protection. Check with your family dentist if in doubt of which toothpaste to choose.

Set a good example - your baby will learn about good teeth hygiene by watching you brush your own teeth.

SOURCE: www.bbc.uk

* My child uses COLGATE toothpaste with a bubblegum flavor. I try other fruit flavor for her but she doesn't like the taste. I always tell her that we should brush her teeth so that she will be more beautiful. I am happy because every time I take her a bath. She will remind me to brush her teeth. As a parent, we should introduce teeth hygiene to prevent "bulok" in her teeth. *

Ways to help in TEETHING

Source: www.bbc.co.uk

* I don't think my baby was bothered by her teeth coming through. She did get a sore chin and cheeks because her dribble used to end up on it. Then she'd spread it round over her face as she sucked on her fingers... I used petroleum jelly to keep it from getting worse. It really helps her to ease the pain she feels. *

Tips for Weaning

Sources: www.bbc.co.uk

* I found this tips in the internet and it helps me presently because I am weaning my child from breastfeed. I started it last Thursday and I pity on my child because she can't sleep. She keeps on asking "dede ako mama". I have to wean her because she is turning three this March and it's the right time for her to wean and will drink her formula milk. My breast is hard and I am hurting because I still have milk. Its okay we can do it! *

Party-throwing advice for the younger set

Before about age 3, celebrations are really for you and other doting relatives — little kids won't remember a thing, and making a big deal might backfire (a noisy crowd can be scary). To keep things fun for all:

Invite family and the kids your toddler plays with regularly (four or five is plenty). An hour and a half is about right — enough time to play, have a snack, sing, and eat cake.

Set up big toys — pop-up mesh tents, oversize foam shapes and letters, riding toys, and baby strollers with dolls, since most 2- and 3-year-olds would rather roam around and run than sit still long enough to make a craft. Roll out a long piece of bubble wrap for them to stomp on. If the weather's good, take it all outside, and add sidewalk chalk and balls.

Serve simple snacks like cut-up fruit, cheese and crackers, or pizza bites. Fancier food won't dazzle a toddler.

Let your child help you pick out his party outfit and the music to play. Make a special paper hat or crown together with his name on it to wear on party day.

Extend the fun by playing hide-and-seek with some of the gifts after guests leave. Give him easy clues to find them, such as "It's in the room with the blue chair."

www.parenting.com

* My child experience attending a birthday party several times. Actually, she is behaved and will observe some other children in the party. She will just listen and will never run and will get attentions of others. She will just sit beside me.

We gave her a party when she turns one. We invited the kids of my cousins. They enjoy swimming in the pool. Gosh! We spend much for it due to unexpected visitors comes in her party but thank God the food is enough for everybody. Whew! *

Why Dolls???

doll

Kyla is afraid of her dolls due to the new primetime show in ABS-CBN entitled "Patayin sa sindak si Barbara". They used dolls to frighten the cast of the horror drama in TV. The spirit of Ruth, the dead lady in the drama enters to the doll of her daughter. Why they do that? They let the children be scared of their dolls. That should not be because children will possibly throw their dolls. So sad, they used dolls for their horror drama.

kylapabotoThis photo was taken last December 2007. We went to the hometown of my mom in Darong, Davao del Sur. This is the lot portion of my mom with so many coconuts. We went there for our Family Reunion together with my mom's sis and bros. We ate barbeque, pancit, calderetang paa ng baboy and many more. They are all delicious and very yummy that can really full your stomach..hehe.

Kyla is holding a fire cracker. Here in Davao our City Mayor doesn’t allow Dabawenyos to have fire crackers during Christmas and New Year so that no one will get hurt. I agree on him. I missed the destroying sounds of fire crackers. Peace!

Reminder for a Bad Friendship

At one time or another, most teens find themselves in a bad friendship. Maybe the actions or words of a so-called friend make your teen uncomfortable or embarrassed. If you’re concerned your child may get involved in a bad relationship, share with him or her some of the warning signs.

Here are things your teen should watch out for:

The following books, from Girls and Boys Town, were written specifically for teens. They offer solid advice on everything from friendships to dating relationships.

6 Stategies to Bully Proof your Child

The following six strategies can help your child with bullies: Help, Assert yourself, Humor, Avoid, Self talk, Own it. These six strategies are easily remembered by children with the phrase "HA HA SO." Children are encouraged to imagine an invisible shield that drops over them with the letters HA HA SO on the shield. They can use these protective strategies and one or more can be chosen during a bullying situation.

H - Help. Get help. Find a friend or adult you can count on.

A - Assert yourself. Use an "I" statement to protect yourself. Say something like, "I like being different" or "I am sorry you don't want to get to know me better before you call me that."

H - Humor. Use humor. Do or say something funny or even something just plain outrageous to throw the bully off balance. For example, if called a "chicken," start walking like a chicken and flapping your arms.

A - Avoid. Stay away from bullies. If you notice a bully and can take another path across the playground, do that.

S - Self talk. Give yourself a silent pep talk, reminding yourself of positive things. For     example, you might think of something like, "I may not be good at track, but I'm proud of how I play the clarinet."

O -Own it. If the put-down is about clothing or something you can change, just agree with the bully. Say something like, "Yeah, I don't like this sweater either. It sure is ugly, but I wore it because my aunt made it and she is visiting this week." (Caution your child not to use this technique for something inherent to the child, such as skin color or ethnic group.) If the put-down is about something you can't or don't want to change, hold your head high, own who you are with pride, and tell the other child you like being who you are.

Kyla is a wonderful gift from God

titonkyla

It's Kyla and her Uncle Bogy (my brother) riding on a vehicle for kids. Kyla wants to ride it but one of her cousins grasps it to her. My poor daughter is so good because she will not fight with her cousin. Maybe she knows that her cousin has hearing difficulties and so she cannot speak. It is her mom has measles when she is pregnant and so it goes to her baby. She is very temper because of her situations. It hurts a lot for a mom when your child is like that. She is a girl. She is now schooling together with the so called "special child".

I thank God for my child is very normal because I am in risk when I got pregnant to her. I have UTI and my blood sugar is increasing. Thank God for a wonderful gift to us. She is smart and talented.

We must teach them

Teaching Values To Our Children
As parents, we want our children to be honest, decent, caring individuals. Simply hoping our children will naturally acquire these skills is not enough. They must see what it means to be honest, courteous and generous. Afterall, children learn what they live.
You are the best person in your child's life to teach values and model positive behavior. Here are a few everyday situations that provide opportunities to shape your child's character.

    * Household chores - If you ask your child to perform certain household duties such as taking out the trash or cleaning his or her bedroom, show your child how to do it (the behavioral steps) and clearly explain your expectations. When children know how to complete a task and take care of their personal belongings, they learn what it means to act responsibly.

    * Nightly homework - Study time at home should be part of your child's weekly routine. Set clear expectations for completing homework (assignments must be done before watching TV or playing a game). When children do what they are supposed to do, even when they don't feel like doing it, they develop character.

    * Meal time - Sitting around the dining table should involve much more than breaking bread. Whether you're reminiscing about your youth or your child is discussing the events of the day, family "table talk" is for sharing and relationship building. You'll be surprised at how many of the stories serve as metaphors about values, discipline and character. Point those lessons out to your children so they can relate true-life events to those abstract ideals.

As you see, the everyday moments of life offer opportunities for us to teach children positive values. However, all the teaching in the world can be undone if our kids watch us behave in ways that contradict everything we've said. If you want your children to learn honesty and sincerity, then be truthful and act kindly.

Source: Parenting

** This is an interesting article because it is all about how to teach your children a proper VALUES. It is necessary nowadays to teach our children about this so that they will be knowledgeable in all things. They must know the household chores so that they can help us in cleaning the house. We must also teach them that they have to study because it is their responsibility as a student. As a parents, we must teach them so that they will know how to apply Values in their lives. **

Kyla loves to drink her MILK

progress_goldKyla is 2 years old and 6 months old but I still breastfed her. She drinks her milk PROGRESS GOLD. I believe that it helps her being a smart child because she can understand what you told her. She can easily get what you taught to her. She can sing Alphabet Song. She can identify objects now. She can count numbers from 1-12. I'm so proud of her. Her milk is expensive but it's okay because I saw that it helps her intellectually.

Babies Sleep

Why sleep?

The newborn, in the first days of life, spends approximately two-thirds of each twenty-four hour period asleep. Over the course of a lifetime, the length of sleep decreases until old age, when humans spend only about a quarter of a twenty-four hour period asleep. Over the course of our lifetime, therefore, we spend about one-third of our time sleeping.

The fact that infants spend more time in sleep than in wakefulness during the first 3 years of their life suggests that sleep plays a more crucial role during this age period. Sleep is important for physical recuperation, physical growth, the immune system, brain development, learning, memory, and information processing as well as many other systems of the brain and the human body.

Source: Sleeping

I remember when my baby was 1 month old because she always sleep on day. She will wake up if she is hungry and I will breastfed her. She will wake up when she wants to "popo". She will wake up when she is wet. Until now my daughter Kyla love to sleep and it will take 2-3 hours of sleeping. She is a healthy daughter of mine.
